One week!

So I got up, went to work this morning, and realized that I only have one week left as an unpublished author! It was definitely an exciting moment, but then the nerves hit me.

It’s like, yes, I can’t wait for my book to come out, but I’m crazy nervous, too. Was I supposed to admit to that? Oh well. I know everything will go great, but it’s huge and overwhelming at the same time. It doesn’t matter though, I still can’t wait for May 13th to get here!

Eeeeek! Save the date: May 13th

In less than two weeks, my novel First finally comes out! I can’t believe that it’s actually happening. When I realized it this morning, I looked around excitedly to share the news.

Unfortunately, I was alone with the dogs and the birds. The conversation went something like this: “Guess what, guys? My book is coming out in less than two weeks!” Yeah, I know I’m great with dialogue.

Charlie, my hairless dog, cracks one eye and glares at me. “Mom, it’s too early to get up. I’m going back to sleep.” He promptly rolls over, tucks his nose under his leg, and ignores me.

“Don’t you understand? My book is coming out!”

Blossom, another of my dogs, rolls over on her back and wags her tail. “Pet my belly, mom.” She seems slightly more excited.

Joey, my African Grey, says, “I love you” from her cage in the living room.

“Thanks, Joey,” I say, my mood brightening. even though I know it’s not a direct response to my excitement. She simply wants breakfast and if I take too long, she will start beeping like the smoke alarm. Too bad I can’t take her batteries out.
